The Nuclear Merit Badge is an event organized by students of the American Nuclear Society at UNLV. The organizers pride themselves on educating young members of the community about nuclear topics. Lectures throughout the day range from historical figures to nuclear forensics, from understanding scientific terms to learning the different forms of radiation, and so much more. We add an element of fun to keep participants of any age (including parents), engaged in the learning experience by conducting experiments and touring radiochemical labs, as well as The National Atomic Testing Museum. Our goal is to inform and unveil any confusion or inaccuracies that are unfortunately associated with these topics.
While the event is specifically curated for the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of the USA, we welcome any and all young members of the community who are interested in learning more about nuclear science.
We will post an announcement when our next event is scheduled.
